La Luz Recap - by Race Director Rodger Sack

La Luz Comments

Thanks for coordinating the race this year. I'm sure it's a lot of work, and you probably only hear from folks when something goes wrong.  However, I think you're doing a great job.   Chuck Loeber

Hi Rodger,

Thanks for running such a great race.  My friend from Phoenix(whom you met at Fleet Street on Saturday) and I, really liked your event.

Going into the race we were concerned about water, however, the water stations were perfectly placed.  Those volunteers at the observation point had an especially long haul, but it was greatly appreciated. Next time, I don’t think I will even carry water.

I loved the start of the race, on time and little drama.  The finish was fun.. I was pretty winded, and it was really great to see so many helpful volunteers handing you cold water, taking your racing slip and directing you to your t-shirt.   Love that shirt and water bottle!

Thanks again for all your hard work.  And thanks for that tip you gave me earlier in the season about training along the ski area.  I shared that information with a lot of other participants.

If I can ever do anything for you, just holler.

Hope to run in this event in 05!       Joe Diaz

Thanks for all the hard work! This was my first La Luz, and I had great experience, as excruciating ordeals go. I hope to make next year's event.

I greatly enjoyed the race this year and appreciate all of your and your staff's logistical coordination to make the event run smoothly-- without a hitch.  I have been participating in the race since 1990 and have only missed a few years along the way after joining the Marine Corps in 1995.

Thanks again,
Sincerely,   Steve Pacheco
